Ashwin Ganesan
Professor
Interdisciplinary applied mathematics, with an emphasis on theoretical computer science, networking, applied algorithms, applied combinatorics, and computational discrete mathematics and concrete mathematics
Biography
I am a researcher and educator in CSE.
My research lies at the intersection of computer science, electrical engineering, and mathematics, and focuses on the design and performance analysis of distributed algorithms and wireless communication networks. In my research, I leverage tools and techniques from combinatorics, graph theory, algorithms, and discrete mathematics, to solve problems arising in engineering based on practical constraints. My papers have been published in top-tier journals, including IEEE Transactions on Communications, Linear Algebra and its Applications, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, and IEEE Transactions on Information Theory. I have an Erdos number of 3.
As an educator, I have introduced and taught a range of courses with academic rigor in computer science and engineering, in particular in the algorithmic foundations area. Courses I have taught include introduction to computer science and programming, data structures and algorithms, discrete mathematics and graph theory, analysis of algorithms, theory of computation and compiler design, advanced data structures and algorithms, computer networks, and graph algorithms in data science.
